My mother in law truly loves horses. Her home is filled with decorations that revolve around equestrian themes. The items include statues, quilts and pictures. However, the most striking items in her collection are her horse rugs.

Every room in her home has one or two horse rugs in it. Some of these decorative items are absolutely beautiful. The horses are intricately painted or woven into the rugs. Some of the horse rugs are comical and cartoonist with catchy little phrases on them. She even hung a few on the wall.

We usually take our spice containers for granted but some find collectible salt and pepper shakers to be very interesting to say the least. I never really had an interest in collecting such items until I moved into an old home that boasts a lot of cabinet space. A lot of the space is encased in glass so I wanted to find interesting objects to arrange in these areas.

The challenge was finding objects that were nice to look at but ones that were still small enough to fit on the relatively little shelves. I think that the shelves were originally designed specifically for canned goods. While I do like canned food, I’m not much into looking at my stock of it every time I enter my kitchen.

Among the many hobbies that are in the world, one of the more popular ones is collecting money. Although traditionally collecting coins was seen as the preferred choice, a lot of people are beginning to see the value in paper money collecting.

There are many that go strictly for money that is important from a historical standpoint. Some paper money is tied to specific events and even to regions that no longer have this form of currency.

Some countries have also created limited edition versions of paper money and this has instilled a profound influence in paper money collecting. These are usually sold for a lot of money and are usually sought after aggressively by those that take collecting seriously. This can make getting these limited edition currencies a challenge and something that can be in instances impossible to obtain. This is one of the main reason that people are drawn to this type of collecting, they see obtaining a rare piece as quite an accomplishment.

Collecting is a fun hobby, and one of the most interesting things to collect are art collectibles. Many different items can be painted with artwork and become an art collectible. Hobby enthusiasts collect such things as saw blades, and wooden eggs which have had artwork painted on. People even collect designer rugs as art. Another art collectible hobby is collecting limited edition plates, thimbles, Christmas ornaments, and figurines produced by such companies as Bradford Exchange. And of course, many people collect fine art paintings.
